It takes just one voice to teach children in the Bay Area about the humane treatment of animals; it takes just one voice to instruct volunteers in Guatemala about animal enrichment; and it takes one voice to inspire wild life conservation in the Bay Area and in communities throughout the world. By developing and maintaining naturalistic habitats for animals in our care; providing leadership in superior animal management practices, and, delivering quality science field trips and family day trips along with kid’s activities and education programs, this local zoo has become the voice of wild life conservation, education, and animal welfare.

The Oakland Zoo is a favorite Bay Area destination for family day trips, birthday parties, science field trips and kid’s activities. Today the Oakland Zoo hosts more than 600,000 visitors annually, has more than 26,000 member households, and provides educational programs and science field trips to over 50,000 Bay Area children. Our local zoo’s accomplishments have spanned the globe. Our zookeepers, veterinarians, educators, students, and volunteers reach into communities to educate, rehabilitate, and collaborate with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation groups. We teach and inspire thousands of children of all ages and backgrounds to understand the needs, behaviors, and care of wild life.
The Oakland Zoo is committed to action for improved global health and the preservation of biodiversity. This local zoo contributes to Bay Area wild life conservation efforts through research, habitat restoration, fundraising, strategic partnerships, public awareness, and outreach.

Our ongoing commitment to wild life conservation, exciting family day trips and science field trips along with kid’s activities and education isn’t limited to California; this local zoo is currently and actively involved in environmental causes and wild life conservation around the world. The Zoo’s support of programs like ARCAS in Guatemala, the Hornbill Nest Adoption Project in Thailand, and Project Tamarin in Columbia is a testament to our concern.

It takes one voice to make an impact, but many voices are needed to create change. We welcome you to come and experience the Oakland Zoo with your family and friends.

We invite you to join us in our quest to provide excellence in animal care, wildlife conservation, education, science field trips, and stewardship of the natural world.
Our services also include Kid's Activities.
